03 April 2013 1st Hour Technology Warmup

For your warmup today, you will be practicing providing specific feedback.  Follow the link and read the attached article.

Detecting Concussions

Review the invention and determine one positive comment, one negative comment, and a suggestion for the inventors.  Use complete sentences and make sure that your feedback is very specific.

When you have completed your warmup, pull up your project.  During critique, I will speak to each of you individually and complete a progress check.  Next, get a post-it from me and wait for instruction.

positive:i like how they can give a test that is accurately right. and it doesn't cost a lot of money.

Negative comment: what will happen if the tests fail. how would you know from there if you do or do not have a concussion.

suggestion: make different tablet tests and not just one because one can fail, and if one fails then you have a back up plan.

P- This invention is a lot easier than going to a hospital. It's also on a tablet, so you won't have to pay a lot of money to go to a hospital.
N- How do you for sure that it works? What if it messes up?
S- You should test this invention on different people, some that have concussions and some that don't.

p- a positive comment would be i think its a very quick and easy way to detect a sign of a concussion

N- a negative comment is i don't think they should necessarily rely on this program. i think no matter what they should get a second opinion just in case it doesn't work.

S- i think they should try TO MAYBE MAKE SURE ITS GOING TO TELL YOU A CORRECT ANSWER so that people don't rely on this system and end up getting in worst conditions.

One positive comment is that it's a lot faster and most kids don't want too be pulled from the game even if they are hurt.
A negative comment is the panel might mix up the voices and say a kid has a concussion when they don't.
A suggestion from my opinion would be to maybe update the program every few months, so that way it wouldn't mess up.

Negative: Using an iPad to detect any concussion can fail.

Positive: It can be much more easier to carry around the tablet as your taking the test.

Suggestion: Use a computer to be more accurate with the results.

It tells the people playing the sport if they can continue or not. It may not be affordable for new sports players. Make it easier to afford so people that cant buy a tablet can be checked for concussions.

I think That this is a very cool way to detect concussions. I also think that it is kind of nerdy. I believe that the people should make it more affordable.
