Students are working collaboratively to complete short stories that they will tell with visual images.  The final product will be a 2'x3' collage.  Our warmups are improving students drawing skills and will be integrated into the finished artwork.

Monday: Shading
Tuesday: Contour, Gestural, Implied Line
Wednesday: Blending and mixing color
Thursday:  All over design

18 September 2012 6th Hour Art Self-Portrait Critique

Today students critiqued their last art projects, self-portraits.  Students had to introduce themselves.  They told us the type of portrait they choose; representational, abstract, non-representational.  They explained how the artwork represented them.

Students were randomly assigned classmates and had to answer descriptive critique questions about that students artwork.

This was our first critique.  I stressed the importance of being respectful during critique.

We are working on a website to post all of the artwork we create in class.

Find photos or images from magazines and write a sentence for each of these, eight, topics.

1.  Something you love.

3.  Something you are scared of.

We will use these images in our upcoming art project.


19-20 September 2012 6th Grade Technology Scavenger Hunt

We will be completing a Scavenger Hunt to familiarize ourselves with the Microsoft Office Suite.  Each part of the hunt works with a different part of Microsoft Office.  You must have all parts of the hunt to receive your points for this project.

11 September 2012 Open House

Make sure to stop by the Technology Lab, Rm. 20, to talk to me and check out what your student has been doing.  I will be there for visual arts and technology.

10 September 2012 Visual Arts

Students that have returned their parent letters continued work on their self-portraits.  We hope to have them done and posted for the Open House.  Students that have not turned in their letters worked on a self-discovery, drawing, assignment.

10-11 September 2012-6th Grade Technology

Students were provided with additional time to complete their Social Studies project.  Students needed extra time to print their projects.  The projects look great!  I am sure you will be glad to see them.

10 September 2012-7th/8th Technology

Students completed the self-grading aspect of their public art project.  They identified the positive and negative aspects of their work.  Critique assists students in improving their work.
