19 March 2013 1st Hour Technology Warmup

Follow the link and read the attached article.

Hacker Sentenced to Over 3 Years

In three complete sentences, tell me what you think about the sentence.  Is it fair?  Is it too harsh?  Is it too lenient?  Clearly state your opinion and then support your opinion based on information provided in the article.

When you have completed your warmup go to Typing Web.

Typing Tutor

You will need to complete two typing units; Home Row Keys and Top Row Keys.  Continue to work on typing until you have completed the two units or until I instruct you otherwise.  When you have completed your typing assignment you need to work on your Website project.

If you were absent yesterday, you must make up yesterday's assignment.  You will not be excused from this assignment.  You can talk to a classmate or me to find out what you need to do to complete your Outline Prospectus.  If you did not complete the assignment yesterday, complete it today.  You will not receive participation points until you have completed the assignment.

Yes, i think it is harsh. I think this because it states in the story that there was a flaw with the AT&T server. It is 50/50 his fault, and 50/50 their fault.

I think the punishment is partiality fair because.Andrew "weev" shouldn't be giving peoples email addresses out. Also AT&T should have had a harder system to crack. So Andrew "weev" couldn't hack it in the first place.

I think the sentence is completely fine. if he has been hacking the i pad users for 3+ years i think he should be in prison for 3 years. It was wrong and just because AT&T security wasnt that well doesnt mean he should do that it invaded peoples privacy!

I think that he deserved the punishment that he got. It wasn't right for him to hack AT&T. But i also think it was kinda harsh because people who do more have less of a punishment.

I think the sentence is fair. An AT&T employe even said that the security wasn't secure. If he does it when he gets out of jail and gets caught, he will just be put in for longer.

This hacker very well deserved what he is getting. This guy has no right getting other people's email addresses without permission. I believe that is an invasion of personal privacy. No one has right to anybodies privacy.

I believe that the punishment is very fair because he hacked into all that stuff that was AT&T's so he deserves what he got.

I think that punishment is too harsh. He has to pay $73,000 in restitution to AT&T. He also has to be 3 years in prison. I say he could at least be in jail for 1 year.

I think it's fair because he hacked in to AT&T and took there costumers e-mails. Since he is sentenced to over three years by the time he gets out then a lot of companies should have good security systems. Andrew 'Weev' also is called, he owes over 73,000 so that should help AT&T a lot with protection with there personal settings.

I think it is fine because he could get a job. after he was out of jail. Better than 10 years.

I think it is fair because he did something he wasn't doing what he should have done.

I believe that three years is to lenient. This is my opinion because he is a hacker and might do more hacking. this is only my opinion though.
