  1. Find an example of non-traditional medium.
  2. Reply to this post.
  3. Copy and paste the link of the website that you found.
  4. Contrast traditional and non-traditional medium.  In five complete sentence, answer the question, "How is non-traditional medium different from traditional medium?"
  5. Your first sentence answers the question.  The following sentences defend your answer.

You will be investigating QR Code Readers and how to create a code.  You have three steps to complete the assignment.  This assignment is worth 25 points.

1.Complete research and learn what a QR Reader is.  You will need to be able to answer general questions. (10 points, I can evaluate this by reviewing the information in your GoAnimate.)
  • What is a QR reader?
  • What was it invented for?
  • What is the most common current use?
  • How does a QR Code work?
  • What type of devices can read a QR code?
2.  Create a short GoAnimate video about QR readers.  You need to answer the provided questions in the GoAnimate video.  I have provided a link for the webpage as well as a link to tutorials to complete the video.  You can ask your peers for help if you need additional support completing the video. (10 points)

Week 2 Wrap Up

Week 2 went well for all students and classes.  We jumped into the curriculum this week and got to work on technology and art projects.

Technology and Success:
Monday-6th grade students organized their required binders.  They will need to have these binders with them in all classes except gym.
Tuesday-We discussed jump drives and explored general navigation of the District's network folders.
Wednesday-Students worked with the advanced students to address common issues with computers and were able to get assistance on personal problems they had.

Advanced Technology:
Monday/Tuesday-Students created Power Point Presentations that address common problems and required procedures in the computer lab.
Wednesday-Students presented to the class and assisted new students in any issues they had been having with the computers.

Introduction to Art:
Monday-Students explored representational art through the work of Olga Larionova.
Tuesday-Students were introduced to abstract art and the abstracted color paintings of Alessandrao Pautasso.
Wednesday-Students challenged themselves to create and understand non-representational art.

Advanced Art:
Monday-Students discussed what perspective is and practiced one and two point perspective.
Tuesday-Students discussed Brunelleschi, considered the father or perspective, and practiced accurately portraying perspective.
Wednesday-Students advanced their ability to portray perspective and investigated the work of Donatello.

GATE:
Monday/Tuesday-Students investigated the state definition of giftedness and determined how it effected them and how it would drive the class.
Wednesday-Students are creating a product that defines their own giftedness.

19 August 2013-21 August 2013 Advanced Technology Assignment

You will work with your classmates to create a Power Point that addresses common issues with using the computers and policies in the computer lab.  The goal of the presentation is to review your own knowledge, practice your ability to research, and share your knowledge with the 6th grade students.  You will present this presentation to the class on Wednesday.  Each group member must speak during the presentation.  You will have the entire hour to present.

Questions you should consider answering:
1.  How do I make sure the ethernet cord is plugged in?
2.  What is an ethernet cord?
3.  How do I make sure the power cable is on?
4.  How do I answer warmup questions?
5.  How do I make sure my wireless internet is turned off?
6.  What do I do if the blog page won't load?

These questions are a starting point to assist you in developing a presentation.  You need to have at least 10 slides plus a title page.  You must include at least 5 images.  You have to have animations for your presentation.

Begin brainstorming with your class.  I will provide you time to answer any questions you may have about the assignment.  I have included the rubric to ensure you understand how you will be graded.

First Day Back!

A great day for all students and staff!  For those of you that are already checking in, students were awesome and staff was excited to get going.  This first week will be a preparation week in all my classes.  Students will receive their syllabus tomorrow and we will focus on getting used to classroom procedures.
